When a heavy iron gate starts leaning or rusting at the base, it quickly becomes more of a hazard than a help. That was the case for a client in Pasadena, where a bulky exterior gate had to be safely removed from their property.
This wasn’t a simple lift-and-load job. The gate was still firmly attached to the stucco walls of a courtyard entrance and embedded into a concrete base. It had to come out cleanly, with no damage to the surrounding walls or walkways.
Here’s how it went down:
- We began by detaching the gate from the side walls using specialized tools to avoid chipping the exterior
- Next came the base. A metal-cutting saw was used to slice through the rusted support posts sunk into the concrete
- With careful leverage, the gate was freed and lowered without scraping the nearby stucco
- Our crew loaded it into the truck and swept the entire area clean
