Job Overview
This week’s job in Park La Brea wasn’t just about removing junk, it was about helping someone make space to breathe.
Our client had just lost her sister and was temporarily staying in the apartment to handle the estate. She’s clearing things little by little, holding on to what she needs for now but ready to let go of what no longer serves the space. This was the first of three pickups we’ll be doing as she sorts, grieves, and slowly reshapes the home.
Why is this job different? It wasn’t just a haul… it was a start. We were careful to listen, to move with intention, and to respect the energy of a space still very much lived in. Cat trees in the corner. A pile of boxes waiting for recycling. A few electronics that hadn’t worked in years. These weren’t just objects, they were part of a life being gently transitioned.
Here’s how it went down:
- Reviewed the space with the client to flag “keep” vs “go” items
- Broke down and removed a full stack of moving and boxes
- Recycled several old electronics
- Gently removed large cat trees, leaving the room broom-clean
- Set aside a few items the client wasn’t ready to part with yet
