Not all junk removal jobs involve furniture or cluttered garages… sometimes, it’s literal tons of sand. Last week in Westwood, we helped the Sigma Nu fraternity at UCLA clear out a courtyard sand pit that had become a soggy, moldy mess.
This job stood out because the fraternity had created the pit for a big event months ago. Over time, rain and foot traffic turned the sand into a compacted swamp of mud, trash, and broken sandbags. They needed it gone fast before summer rush events started.
Here’s how it went down:
- Arrived on schedule and assessed the safest route to remove the sandbags without disturbing the surrounding courtyard
- Dug out the packed sand by hand to protect surrounding pavers and landscaping
- Bagged debris carefully to avoid tracking mud through the house
- Hauled away dozens of wet sand and busted sandbags
- We wrapped up efficiently and left the space neat and ready for whatever came next
